Canvas and threads; Kits to Go

 Its always more fun to put together thread kits than to put threads away so when its time to straighten up I often get distracted and can’t help but assemble threads to see how it can suddenly make a canvas that much more appealing.  Click on the caption for more information or to purchase.

 A gorgeous array of unusual colors in this 18 count piece called Sumeera by Lois Caron.  Threads pulled include Threadworx over dyed cotton floss and metallics, Gloriana 12 ply silk and the incomparable Lorikeet lambs wool, Gumnut stranded silk, Silk lame braid and Trebizond.  These are just some of the thread lines available at the Nimble Needle!

The blue background is mesmerizing.  Best captured in Felicity’s Garden 50% silk, 50% wool.  This thread is so luminous compared to other similar blends.  For some fun I’ve pulled Painters Thread Perle cotton #5 and a coordinating silk lame braid to encourage some play for the thunderbird pattern.  Haven’t tried Painters Thread, its gotten rave reviews.  Best to think of it being a general color with surprise flecks of color.  Very different than say Watercolours which stitches up more often with a shift of color rather than an unexpected fleck.  So soft, doesn’t have the sheen of perle cotton but maintains that nice twist.
