Winter in New Jersey has felt like 50 shades of grey on a constant loop. Hard to even take good pictures without some sunshine! Here are a few canvases I’ve played around with to enhance them from just a painted canvas.
Winter sun by Julie Pischke, 14 count 16″ x 16″. Forget the white background, I have a customer debating on this one but she’s keen on the Vineyard chateau for a background. Canvas $155, threads as shown with enough for the background $120. (If it were me I’d do vineyard merino for the background.)I have Summer Sun by Julie too, very blue and more geometric.
Calla lily’s by Dream House ventures. 13 count $155. Thread kit as shown $64. Merino wool, watercolors, Splendor, Pepper Pot with some accents in velvet and silk lame braid.
Bloomsbury by Janet Watson 13 count. Annabelle’s playhouse, Silk n Ivory, Gloriana silk, Threadworx metallic, Silk lame braid, Sparkle rays, velvet, pepper pot and splendor. A mix of textures for added dimension. Canvas $112. Threads $115. A great piece for basket weave or some basic stitches such as mosaic, cashmere, brick and scotch.
A funky kind of red landscape by Maggie, $124 on 18 count. Here I can see having a lot of fun with stitches. Threads include Vineyard silk, Gloriana silk, Splendor, Soie d’alger, Watercolors, Painters perle cotton, Lorikeet, Burmilana, Silk lame braid, Velvet and Kreiniks to lace the tree with some sparkle. Threads as shown $89. A ver au Soie, Soie d’alger blanc optique is the whitest strand able silk I know of. Ever frustrated that Splendor white, or Vineyard white isn’t bright enough? Gotta have the blanc optique!
